About this deal

According to Social Learning Theory, observers process and think about what they witness being modeled, which — combined with environmental factors — results in the assimilation and imitation of positive or negative behaviors. The following three chapters cover key topics related to learning -- motivation, self-regulated learning, and contextual influences.

Six chapters cover the major theories of learning — behaviorism, social cognitive theory, information processing theory, cognitive learning processes, and constructivism. We’ll explore some additional ways of applying Cognitivism and other learning theories at the end of this guide. Most learning theories have “an empirical element and a formalised way of study, analysis and conclusion” (Harasim, 2017). Interestingly, two of the key learning theories sources I am using (Harasim, 2017) and (Lefrançois, 2019) make no reference at all to CLT. And while learning theories will no doubt continue to evolve, teachers and students alike can reap the benefits of this evolution as we continue to develop our understanding of how humans most effectively learn. It posits that new information can essentially change our worldviews when our life experience and knowledge are paired with critical reflection. A chapter on Development (Chapter 10) teaches about the developmental processes critical for learning and successful ways to foster learning in students at different developmental levels. The ideas are presented in a readable form and create a nice backdrop to a course and reference for thinking about learning theory. NU proudly serves active duty and Veteran students from all branches of the military — at home, on base, and abroad.

For example, if one experienced classrooms based heavily on social learning during the K-12 years, as an adult, one may be very comfortable in a highly collaborative work environment. This book was so beneficial to me in my education class that I wish I had the hard copy book instead of just the online version.Based on that study, the assessment rubric is developed, consisting four components; job description, scale, dimension, and dimension description. One of the most significant learning theories is the theory of social learning put forth by psychologist Albert Bandura in 1977, when his influential book Social Learning Theory was published. Learning is based on a system of routines that "drill" information into a student’s memory bank, as well as positive feedback from teachers and an educational institution itself.
